Lyrid Meteor Shower
April 16-25, 2025 (Peak: April 22)The Lyrids are one of the oldest known meteor showers, with records dating back 2,700 years. The shower is produced by dust particles left behind by Comet C/1861 G1 Thatcher. The shower will peak on the night of April 22 and morning of April 23, with up to 20 meteors per hour visible from dark sky locations.
Partial Lunar Eclipse
May 5, 2025A partial lunar eclipse will be visible from North and South America, Europe, Africa, and parts of Asia. During this event, part of the Moon will pass through Earth's shadow, creating a dramatic reddish appearance on the partially eclipsed portion.
Venus at Greatest Eastern Elongation
May 24, 2025Venus will reach its greatest eastern elongation, appearing at its highest point above the western horizon after sunset. This is one of the best times to observe Venus, as it will be at its maximum separation from the Sun.
